Where is the nearest main hospital to torrox ,Velez area , with a&e and usual out patient dept ,do they speak English

You can sometimes get lucky and find a practitioner who speaks English but, mostly not. You do need to learn enough Spanish to at least say basics, especially if you have an ongoing medical condition. In non-Covid times there's volunteer interpreters but they have been stopped for the foreseeable future.

The nearest hospital is in Velez and as the previous poster said, the interpreters are not there at the moment due to the pandemic.

Yes, at the end of Torre del Mar towards Caleta, up from the main road. Hospital comarcal de la Axarquia, the regional hospital.
