Hi Hooch,

Thank you very much for the information.

When did you relocate? was it before Brexit or after?

Can you give me a ballpark figure of the all the costs.

Regards

Ela Hudson

Hi Pamela19

We relocated in Feb 22, only a few months ago, so after Brexit

It cost roughly 2000€ for the solicitor to do all the work for us (for 2 people) but they are 100% worth it.

There are a few other costs along the way application fee etc, but the big cost was the solicitor.

Again, not a process I would ever have achieved on my own

Hi Hooch,

That sounds good. Now we don't have to pay for private insurance anymore it is even better.

Hi Hooch,

It's me again.

Can you tell me how long it took from first speaking to Melanie Radford and relocating to Spain?

Also, did you do all the paperwork from the UK ?

Regards

Ela Hudson

It will take roughly 3 to 4 months.  It may also depend which consulate you are dealing with.

We done the Edinburgh one, but Melanie will keep you right.

There is a whole stack of info you need to get for the (bank statements etc)

I hope that helps

Hi Pamela, how long did it take after your visit to the consulate?  I have heard they are currently on strike and it is all taking a lot longer at the moment.

Thanks, Alex

Hi Alex,

I haven't been to the consulate, I am obtaining all my information from the internet + Age in Spain.

Ahh, I believe you have to be in the UK to apply for an NLV and you need to visit the Consulate nearest to your home.

We are getting a company called Upsticks, based in Spain, to help us move to the Malaga region. They will hold our hand all the way, including accompanying us to the police station when we arrive in Spain. I think the advice of getting help is good advice 👍🏽  There seems to be a lot of different paperwork required from lots of different sources, some which also needs translation.

Good luck 😊

I just used a Spanish solicitor based in the centre of Malaga. He knew the process and I had no problems. Very reasonable as well for me and my wife

Hi Pamela19

We had to get private medical insurance as part of the application.  Unless there has been very recent changes you may want to double check that.  The solicitor will help you out and give you recommendations who were actually the cheapest with good cover
