Indeed and paying tax in Spain a problem, to include the fact no age cap on Social Security, collectively giving a minimum rate of about 60%.

So can you work in Spain? I’m retired so all I have would be savings. Hope they don’t tax that! Just a thought...if you sell your present home there and buy another, are you then eligible for a Golden Visa?

Complex I stopped my income from UK, as most would have gone in Tax, I already owned a home in Spain, I regret did not sell many years ago, I should have started fresh and just brought a Golden Visa, they don't tax savings, but they do all pensions unless a UK 'civil servant where is taxed in the UK. The only way people can reduce Tax on UK income is to become self-employed and be an 'autonomo'  You then pay about 283 Euro a month fixed Social security and then Tax at standard rates, but the Spanish government are changing this to make graduated, The tax allowances low here and rates high, UK is like a Tax haven by comparison.

How much per annum before you are taxed? For instance if I have £10.000 from pension and the rest of my money is savings would I pay tax?

But with a Golder Visa you can still pay tax in your home country if stay registered there.

This is very useful information regarding the available Real estate. Not sure if this is the place to ask a question about a golden visa.... but here goes. I've been with my partner for 6 years, but not married. If we bought a property valued at 500,000 euros can we both get the visa? I asked our lawyer in Marbella and he wasn't sure. Any knowledge about this is truly appreciated!

Your spouse, civil partner and/or children can be included in your application for the golden visa..You will need to include with your documents the marriage or civil partnership certificate and birth or adoption certificates.

Hi Karen,

To answer your question there is no need for a tourist visa to enter Spain. You can enter Spain any time and stay up to 90 days. Once you are there you can view properties at your will and even use the services of a real estate agent who  will help you refer to a lawyer and a notary who can get you NIE or apply yourself at a police station.

Wow, that's the most helpful answer I've got yet. Many thanks for that. Very clear and precise.
