Hi Bill,

All you have to do is walk into your local town hall with the relevant information and they will present you with your padron.

It's not difficult and there is no charge.

In Vélez málaga doesn’t quite work like that you don’t just walk in and get the padrón when you applying to be empadronado. This is the wrong advise sorry.

I do need the patron certificate ASAP but the urgent issue is to show the Police that it’s being worked on so they can process my TIE which I must apply for by next week

I understood that hence my previous reply, they should have given you a resguardo which means you have applied for it and it’s official coming from them and then you go to the police with it so they can log you in. In Vélez málaga it takes 1 to 2 months for them to come up with the actual Padrón.

...rón.

I'm going down to the Benajarafe town hall  - currently a small room in a sports centre - on Tuesday for another session with the one helpful, overworked lady. She advised me last week to come back about then and she would plead my case to their main office.

Buy popcorn - stay tuned!!

Yes if they want to they can help out no matter  how overworked they are (which I doubt very much btw)  still have you got your resguardo ( paper saying you have applied to the town hall)? I would take that to the police so your date is logged in before the 30 days.

I have a complete copy of the application with identifying bar code. That should be enough in extremis?

Please find attached the official document on this topic from Velez-Malaga that was forwarded to me by Age in Spain.

Does this help?

I have just read through that and unless I am confusing what you have said on your original post , it says clearly in this document you have to already be in the Padron to obtain the certificate which I think you are not  as that’s what you are trying to achieve. This info  forwarded to you by Age in Spain Is for a colectivo padrón (not an individual one) but in order for them to give you this you have to have been registered in the first place. I hope I make sense.
