Afternoon everyone, I’m buying an apartment in estepona which will also make me qualify for a golden visa, I need advice on how to transfer my money over to my Spanish account, I’ve heard off smart currency, has anyone had any dealings with them or could anyone recommend anyone else

Thank you all in advance

Bal

Hi Andy P, I applied to Wise transferring 500 euro as a start. Everything was going fine until I had to send a copy of my passport which showed my age (80 in June) after this I was refused. I tried asking why, no response. So obviously not age friendly!!!!

That seems odd. I'm confused as to why you are transferring in such small chunks though. To me that would immediately flag up as money laundering. But I genuinely can't see how age can have any bearing on transferring money from one account to another. I use them every month as do many many people. Obviously it's up to you entirely but I'd give them a call

I too found it odd! I have a bank account with Sabadell who are charging large amounts for transfers. Many are changing to Wise, so thought I would too, and sent that amount over as a first amount. My UK pension is sent over monthly and Sabadell now charge for this. I just thought that I could save a few pounds by using Wise. Money laundering that is a laugh I certainly don't have enough to even warrent that.

Honestly, I'd contact Wise to see what the issue is as it simply can't be age related. I transfer from my UK account to my Sabadell account at least once a month, although usually 2 or 3 times for one thing & another and its always in the €500-700 range, never have a problem and it takes on average from 5-15 seconds to complete.

I hope you get things sorted!

Believe me I sent them an email asking for an explanation. Guess what - no reply.

Hi, Bal

I've used Smart Currency in the past - seemed to be good value for money and very efficient.

Good luck with your purchase!
