Hi, I am looking for some information on Casares village. We own a village house and haven’t been able to visit since Xmas. How has the village coped with covid, are the restaurants, swimming pool open?how welcome would visitors be. We are unsure if we should travel, any info would be gratefully received. Many thanks jenni

Hiya Jenni,

I live in Casares, just up from the Village, and although I also have not been able to get there I have heard from friends that the swimming pool is indeed open (with a few manageable rules) and the Village is a humming along.  The only difference being that masks are mandatory.  Otherwise it seems business as usual.

Also it appears the town has managed very well.  I do not think there have have been any reported cases even.

I will be back in August.  If you want to stay in touch just private message me.

Hi Jenni

We have just visited our new house in Casares for the first time. We drove from the UK and are now settling in. The shops, bars and restaurants seem open with Covid awareness and the masks seem to mandatory and worn by the adult community outside. The centre is vibrant and have felt really welcomed.

We ourselves are looking forward to meeting people from this forum.

Hi, r and s, thanks so much for getting in touch. I’m glad to hear the village is doing well. We have a small property opposite the townhall. We had flights cancelled at Easter and now July. Not sure when we will get back as don’t feel confident to fly. Hopefully we can stay in touch and meet up when we eventually can return. Stay safe jenni and bob

Dear Jenni and Bob. We feel tentative about flying at the moment too, but great news on BBC about Oxford vaccination study press released today so forever optimistic. The drive was long, but as safe as it could be and so glad we came. Casares is beautiful! Yes, would like to stay in touch. Roslyn and Simon
