There is a bus loop in the main square in Mijas Pueblo. Take the M122 bus from Mijas to Fuengirola. From the Fuengirola bus station, walk a block to the train station and take the train to Malaga. It's really cheap and easy. There's always lots to do and see in Malaga. Check out the port area, the shopping street called Calle Larios and if you feel like a bit of exercise, walk up to the castle. Also, if you are there on Sundays, it is free to go to the Pablo Picasso Museum (art gallery). There are lots of good restaurants and chiringuitos along the beach, east of downtown.
