One person here posted was pulled up by Police on the 1st May. Latest statement below....

“An agreement to swap UK driving licenses for Spanish licenses has not yet been reached,” they said.

. “(We) are urging the Spanish Government to bring forward interim measures.

“We remain committed to reaching a deal and the UK already has similar arrangements in place with 24 other EU countries."

It is unclear when the situation will be resolved, a government source told the Mail on Sunday

"This could go on for a week or it could be longer. It should be temporary but we don't know how temporary," the source said.

Clive, weren’t you aware that you could have changed your licence  until the end of April? It’s now illegal from 1st May to drive with a U.K. licence. My understanding is that you now need to take Spanish test to get your licence.  Having said that, David is very switched on, so it could well be that U.K. is still hoping that a deal can be reached in the future. Good luck.

Yes Spanish driving is shocking, in spite of a tough test, I refuse to take one, I use Uber and Bolt which is very cheap and now walk about 3 miles a day, my car shipped back to UK, will buy a Spanish one if allow a swap.in future.

Hi Bradders, I got my UK Spanish swap done when I took up Residencia back in 2019 but it still took 6 months to do. So no short term solution I am afraid.

Spanish government crazy, they should make an effort to sort driving licences fast as possible, they need people to buy property and move here, plus sell the cars. About 3 million empty properties in Spain and 'still building', further "The Spanish population will decrease by 9.4 million in the next 50 years"

Well the delays in my licence were down to slowness of DVLA.

Most people buying property around us are not from UK, so I am not sure they are that bothered. Just helped USA couple and others are French, Belgium and Scandinavian.

It is our Government's fault for leaving EU.
