We are renting in Mijas for 6 months in the winter with a possibility of moving to the area permanently.Can anyone recommend a good Spanish bank with English speaking staff and website and if it's possible to set up an account from the UK prior to coming over in October.

Yes, Sabadell are excellent. Very helpful, everything is in English (if you want it), and easy to open an account. The website is easy to navigate, too. They helped me get my NIE, then residencia, including translating certain documents from English to Spanish, and they have just helped me do my 1st Spanish tax return. Plus, there are branches all over the place!

They helped me sort out evidence of income/bank balance and health insurance. Also explained the process. I recommend you go to a lawyer or gestor, quite honestly it's a bit of a challenge to do by yourself (although not impossible). My Spanish is good, I am used to living here, I sort of know how the system works, and I sometimes struggled to understand what was going on. But, the bank were very helpful and patient.

I just buy a Apartement in Casares. Sabadell was the choise of my laywer and it was perfekt. The hole communication in englisch. All the papers in englisch, or with a englisch explanition. Onlinebanking account in englisch, even if i book something from my creditcard i get a englisch phonemessage About it. i can agreed With the others. Sabadell Bank
