Can anyone tell me if it is now possible for me to exchange my Jersey (Channel Islands) license for a Spanish one? The problem I may have is that although Jersey is part of the British Isles it is NOT part of the UK!!😫😫. So can I exchange?

If you hold a valid licence from Guernsey, Jersey or the Isle of Man you will need to obtain a Spanish licence within 6 months of becoming resident. You are currently unable to exchange your licence for a Spanish one and instead must apply for a Spanish licence as a non-EU national, which includes taking a driving test.

Thank you Nigel, very helpful but when was that written was it after the recently made agreement (on 16th March 2023) or before. I was aware that that was the situation before the new agreement but wondered if it is still the same now?

Thanks again Nigel obviously not the answer I was looking for but it is what it is😫😫
I wonder if the route might be to exchange your Jersey license for UK one, then to a Spanish one. It will be dependent on if you already have Spanish residency as you would not be able to exchange your newly acquired (post Spanish residency) UK license. Maybe a waste of time but worth exploring if you haven't?

I think the bigger issue as I understand it would be if you exchanged it for a UK licence it shows that it was originally issued in Jersey and as there is no agreement Spain would not exchange it.
