Hi , we are thinking of visiting the area in March but are a bit concerned that the hotels and bars will be very cold chilly etc as the wife is very allergic to this, (we are going soft in our old age) ...thinking about the elba or kempinski hotels.. also can anyone recommend a good travel insurance for people with existing medical preconditions

You'll be OK. March can be a bit rainy but equally it could be wall to wall sun. Today, for example, its 21 degrees (02/01). Both the Elba and Kempinski are lovely hotels. You won't be cold. As for bars and restaurants outside of the hotel most will be fine as, generally speaking, they have heating if required. Just ensure that you bring some clothes for cooler evening weather and you'll be fine.
