The courtesy bus is waiting at the airport, or will be there within minutes, drivers have the name and arrival time, so they know when your son and familiy will be there.

From the airport/rental station it is in fact very easy to get to Estepona. Either bring or rent a navigation or simply use google maps on the mobile. There are two road toll stations on the highway to Estepona, where you can pay with cash or credit card.

The route out of the airport is quite easy from the upper level but if the hire company is on the ground level he may end up on the MA-21. Either way I would recommend he takes the AP7 Toll road to Estepona being quicker and less traffic.
