Hi Sandra.

I have an House in Velez Malaga, when I was finalising the sale of the house, my estate agent who is in Torre del Mar booked an appointment with Santander for us, we went along to the appointment with our passports and N.I.E. confirmation which my solicitor got through the police station, The man...

...ager at Santander was very helpful, we deposited 100€ in to the account and that was it.

Getting an electronic signature was a bit of a task, but we got there in the end.

I would advise opening a Bank Account located in or nearby the area where you are buying an Apartment.

Good Luck Sandra, hope you get a Bank sorted soon.

Warm Regards

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience good or bad using N26 as their bank account?

Trust Pilot reviews has made me wary of using them.

We already have an account with Sabadell in Spain. They are asking us to come from the UK (our perm residence) to Spain to show them our new passports before Aug, otherwise they will close our bank account and we would then not be able to pay our bills for our Spanish property!

Due to commitments we would have to go out to Spain and back in a day. What a waste of money!

Any ideas. Thanking you in advance.

Maura

Ask Sabadell if you get a notarised copy in the UK sent to them will that suffice?

Thanks for your reply.

We went to London and got Sabadell (it’s not a bank but offices) to verify our new passports, which they did. They sent all the info to Sabadell in Spain a month ago and there has been no response from Spain at all, despite Sabadell in London chasing this up for us.

Sabadell in London have been so helpful and really went out of their way to help us.

In this day and age it is crazy to have to fly over to Spain to have your passport verified in your branch in order to keep your bank account active.

We are having to do this as we are no longer in the EU

Hi,

Can you open a joint N26 account?

Many thanks

No, you cannot currently have a joint account, which does seem odd.  However, this is the only drawback I can see, so far the account has worked perfectly, we have paid direct debits and used the card for online payments and cash withdrawals and the account has only been open for 10 days.  Their customer support live chat is also very good.

No problem Maura.  I asked the original question on here myself as I was looking at N26 and got the inside information on N26 from David.

Cheers

Andy

The important thing in Spain is that you need a 'Euro account', it does not have to be an actual Spanish bank, who make very high charges, The on line banks have become very popular like N26  ✓ Free bank account ✓ Spanish IBAN ✓ 100% app-based banking: no paperwork required ✓ Your finances in your language - https://n26.com/en-eu/open-bank-account-in-spain
