Once you have moved there and registered at the town hall/ ayuntamiento you should enquire about free classes provided by the council locally for foreigners. I go twice a week to the classes near me. But a warning- no English spoken normally, so it is hard work and is not for everyone. Good luck! Buen suerte.

And also a good way to meet other expats from all over.

Hi Jenny,

Where are you located?  I am in Casares Pueblo (Village) and although they were offering inexpensive classes last year there were not enough registrants so I am wondering if there is somewhere else nearby that I can get into the free or subsidized classes.  I have taken private courses but to learn Spanish would costs a small fortune that way as you say, its not an easy or quick thing to learn.  Thanks. Kerri

Sorry- but I am near Istan- so no use to you! Thats a shame- I suppose it varies place to place. Our group is thriving.

I  am sure there must be group lessons close to you that are not too expensive? Duolingo is also a very good free online resource.

Hi Jenny, yes I noticed that you were in Istan after I sent the message.  It would be so nice to have your situation with a small group of people with some free training. How lucky.  Thanks, Kerri
