Transfer Wise looks a good option ,but the information we have read does not clarify if you can set up Direct debits on the account which is a necessity .
We would be grateful to know anybody else’s thoughts and experiences with this.
We really are not fans of Caixa bank anyway since it took over from Barclays the service is non existent and infact they are so rude , we dread having to go to the branch .
Also would it be possible to give authority to close the account from England due to the Coronavirus travel restrictions.

It depends on the bank, banks in Spain have now decided to charge from funds from the UK. Bankinter do not charge, you can open an account with them and use Smart currency exchange to exchange your funds and we will send to Bankinter, no charges, comms or commission. Transferwise - (wise) charge a transfer fee.
We exchange small and large amounts.
