HMRC -double taxation ,etc - 1 replies

Chatsworth25 Posted by Chatsworth25 in Brexit and the EU: living, holidaying and moving to Torre del Mar on Mon Dec 11, 2023 6:22pm

When you take up permanent residence in Spain its essential to submit a tax return to theHacienda in your first tax year even though your earnings maybe below the threshold

This gets you onto their system and gets a Tax number /certificate-Residencia Fiscal en Espana Convene

This is required when you apply to HMRC for Double taxation status -otherwise if you drawdown for Private pension etc then the HMRC will deduct tax and you will then need to get rebated (more paperwork )

The problem with HMRC is they are getting worse on communication

I sent information by post inAugust 2023 and still await acknowledgement and I,ve tried several times phoning them spending 1 HR each time and no reply

Has anyone else has these issues ?

&p Tax Rule Tax Beckhams Law - 0 replies

Chatsworth25 Posted by Chatsworth25 in Taxes in Torre del Mar: Suma, NIE and general tax advice on Mon Sep 18, 2023 10:43am

Chris Burke Spectrum IFA7P Tax Rule
"One of the most common questions people ask me is ‘As I am not on the Beckham Law, how can I reduce my taxes?’ One of the first questions I ask them is ‘how much time do you travel for work outside of Spain?’ If you travel for 2 weeks or more every month, in simple terms you might not to have to pay tax for those days you are away - a significant saving and you may have a tax exemption of up to €60,100 per year.

The key qualification factors are as follows:

  • You must be a Spanish tax resident
  • The company you are performing the work for must not be Spanish, must be based abroad and not a Spanish entity (but you can be employed by a Spanish company and have been instructed to carry out this work outside of Spain)
  • You must physically be outside of Spain when conducting this work
  • The country you are working in must have a similar tax system to Spain/have a double tax treaty
If you adhere to all these points then this tax exemption could be applicable for you - please ensure you take professional advice."

child ISAs and child trust funds etc - 0 replies

Chatsworth25 Posted by Chatsworth25 in General Torre del Mar discussion on Mon Aug 14, 2023 7:34pm

My understanding

https://www.gov.uk/junior-individual-savings-accounts/manage-an-account

“If your child moves abroad, you can still add cash to their Junior ISA.

Your child’s Junior ISA will be in their name, but the parent who opens it is responsible for managing the account and is known as the ‘registered contact’.

The registered contact is the only person who can:

  • change the account, for example from a cash to a stocks and shares Junior ISA
  • change the account provider
  • report changes of circumstances, for example change of address”

https://www.triodos.co.uk/faq/what-happens-if-i-the-child-move-abroad-am-i-still-able-to-pay-into-my-junior-cash-isa?id=d89c5ec6768a

What happens if I/ the child move abroad, am I still able to pay into my Junior Cash ISA?

Yes. As long as the child was a UK resident when the Junior cash ISA was opened, you will still be able to pay into the Junior cash ISA even though you and/or the child have moved abroad.

I have had a terrible time with the HALIFAX to the extent its gone to the ombudsman over my daughter,s isa( 13 now) which say I cannot pay into the ISA

Buying books from the uk` -Caveat Emptor - 6 replies

Chatsworth25 Posted by Chatsworth25 in Where to buy things in Torre del Mar on Fri Jul 21, 2023 7:31pm

So Book depository has closed(I never knew that Amazon had bought in 2011) so where do I buy my books from the UK ?

One problem is that in Spain you never know that an unpleasant charge may be incurred when your book is delivered  despite some sellers quoting postage and IVA ie I ordered a secondhand out of print book from iberlibro which is the spanish side of Abe-so the book was €

Precio del libro: EUR 41,97
Envío: EUR 16,30
IVA estimado: EUR 2,33 =€60.60 paid total

However on picking up iVA and extracarvas €31.20 so my 41.97 book had total now of €91.80!!!OK so I,m now taking the issue up as the bookseller was using a professional courier parcel2go which dealing with international delivery have a duty of care to quote correctly BE WARNED

Anyway Wordery will deliver free of charge on new books ,Awesome books ,amazon es now also have new and secondhand book section , Waterstones and blackballs will deliver for a cost but the link may be of help

https://beautifulbooks.info/2023/04/vale-book-depository/#:~:text=Why%20did%20Book%20Depository%20Close,decision%20to%20close%20Book%20Depository

of course its worth keeping your eyes on Cudeca and other charity shops
