With the hot weather here I wanted a garden umbrella and parasol so I looked at Dunnes website and because they have Rebublic of Ireland (ie Euro currency) then it had the tilt and turn for 40€ but on Spanish website it shows 50€ but with a photo with a yellow highlight banner NEW LOWER PRICE  and specific to that item not the base 25€ etc

so I presume that Dunnes are using the photograph with yellow highlight on all their stores websites but local pricing which surely is misleading unless the 50€ is a new lower price(which I don't think it is )

I would welcome any comments not only on the parasol but other items which show the photo with NEW LOWER PRICE highlight  If you go online and search

1 Make sure you you have the Spain region

2 The NEW LOWER PRICE highlight on the photo may not be correct

Would it not make more sense to have a conversation with Dunnes rather than posting on a forum where (probably) nobody works for Dunnes or influences what their website does or doesn't say? Sometimes mistakes happen. Very often website data uploads are done remotely, often from Asia, via spreadsheets, with those people never actually looking directly at the website. Also, of course, material and shipment costs are increasing daily and most retailers are now becoming unable to swallow them and are being forced to pass them along to the customer. It's a serious situation but the bottom line is that prices seen today may well be different next week or even tomorrow. My own business is facing exactly this situation and we are far from alone. All at a time when people can least afford to pay more...

I had a word to dunnes in store and at their head office and yes in stead of addressing the matter they couldn’t see the issue and I have furthermore replied to them stating that they are using a photo with new lower price banner underneath that item and some others

So I did take the time but if it means taking the mattter further ie consumer protection then I will.

Obviously you must do whatever you feel is right but honestly, I would suggest that a simple website error hardly warrants getting consumer protection involved. Mistakes sometimes happen when humans are involved. And speaking to a shop sales person is pretty much never going to resolve a website issue as shop staff will rarely, if ever, have any direct contact with the ecommerce people. They are very often completely separate companies. With prices changing on an almost daily basis these days, you would do far better, if their current offering doesn't suit you, to just look elsewhere for something that will work for you.

Cheers

I don't need to justify myself to you. I work in the industry, nothing more. That does, however, give me a more realistic view of what's happened. But you carry on making yourself look silly with your juvenile comments.

Well if you work in the industry, you should be more aware than most, it is illegal to advertise goods at one price...and then charge more when you try to buy... unless of course you are just the cleaner there... or maybe the trolley collecter?....

Nothing wrong with cleaners or trolley collectors. They both hold important roles that enhance a shoppers experience when in a bricks & mortar shop, maybe not so much when using the website You seem to be suggesting that they worth less by saying "just" a cleaner.... As I said previously I really don't need to justify myself to you or anyone. It was simply a view of a situation that you can accept or not. It matters not to me. I won't be commenting further and will now unfollow this thread.
