Hi,

Retired couple, moving over in a few months, looking for on line Spanish tuition in conjunction with duo lingo app, will take local lessons when we move over, but would like some communication skills before then.

Thanks

Richard

Hi, first of all, thanks for replying.

I had a quick look at the link, just a couple of questions

. What level did you get too with this and how long did it take you.

.is the course free, I saw no mention of fees

. Did you use other methods at the same time.

I appreciate you taking the time.

Richard.

Hi there

No not free. They have some books too. I started as an absolute beginner, intermediate in about 3 months. Did a 1 month challenge then 2 month challenge. Now I just have a 1 hour coaching twice a week.

You’ll need to check with them about pricing as I can’t remember to be honest.

Hope that helps

Michel

Hi Michel,

Thanks again for taking the time, very grateful for your help. I owe you a beer 🍺

I’ve started with Duolingo ok for learning words, but I may give this a go as well, just one last question is the coaching session in a group, one to one, or automated.

Richard.

Hi Richard

No prob.

Dual lingo taught me words but they taught me the rules do I could understand, learn and apply. There is a strong emphasis on grammar which was tough but at least now I understand “why”.

You can have 1 to 1. But I meet with a Spanish tutor and 2-6 others. He gets us talking but also allows for questions.

Not being in Spain my opportunity to practice is the only thing slowing me down.

Kind regards

Michel

Hi Richard, we used Duolingo and also Drops, an app for vocabulary. I discovered an app called HelloTalk which allows you to find native speakers from Spain who want to learn English. The (free) app also translates their messages if you don't understand.  I would really recommend it.  Verbling is a platform for teachers and you can select someone from there to work with online. I've been using that for some time now.
