Building work permissions?

Hi. When I bought my apartment in Torremolinos I had to completely replace the kitchen and part of the bathroom etc. though no walls were removed I had to get permission for this work with the town hall and my builder did this for me . The licence cost just under €300 for my work and enabled me to get the work done without interruption from any other apartment dweller. The point being that without the permit they can complain to the police about the noise or any inconvenience caused them by the builders and the police could visit you and stop the work proceeding until a permit is obtained. You will need to check with your builders or indeed the town hall if the builders say you do not need a permit. Hope this helps.

Sorry also was the permissions just to carry out alteration work or did you have to submit layout plans. 

You may also need to check the rules of your apartment comunidad.  In our block no work can be carried out at weekends or in the months of July and August 

Hi . I arranged everything through my plumber who has an English wife Lynette. You can contact her at +34 637 06 97 62. They are based in 

Fuengirola and they arranged for the builders and the electrician. Their work was excellent and I have no problem to recommend them. Hope this helps. 

When our builder put in a request for planning consent it was rejected so we got an architect who got it approved.

We used Manuel Torroba  +34 628 559 740 

But just one thing we learned. When the architect put in the planning application he had to include costs and I understand they have to use book rates for labour and materials. Our actual cost of doing the work was a third of the official cost in the application.
