Can someone please help

Do I need a pcr test or an antigen test

Or both to fly to U.K.

I know when I get to U.K. as rules stand I need a day 2 and day 8 pcr test

I am just not sure what I need for Malaga airport to return to U.K.

Thanks

Hi Joprice, I did this just over a week ago with an Antigen test at a cost of 50€ from the clinic in Calahonda (near the Crown Resort roundabout), I had to have two PCR tests (for day 2 & day 8) purchased in advance from Randox Healthcare at a cost of £120 using the promotional codes from Ryanair last week and Easyjet this week (I have to go back to the UK again this weekend.)
I did not need a PCR test on leaving Malaga but had to give the Randox reference number on the invoice I received, on to my passenger locator form. This has to be completed no sooner than 48 hours in advance of your travel date.
Whilst in the UK I had to isolate for ten days and was contacted by track & trace on day 2,3,5,8 & 9.
I hope this helps.

Test providers and type of test ….. UK GOV

You will need to find a test provider. You must make sure that the test provider can meet the standards for pre-departure testing.

The test must meet performance standards of ≥97% specificity, ≥80% sensitivity at viral loads above 100,000 copies/ml.

This could include tests such as:

  • a nucleic acid test, including a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test or derivative technologies, including loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) tests
  • an antigen test, such as a test from a lateral flow device

It’s your responsibility to ensure the test meets the minimum standards for sensitivity, specificity and viral load details. You must check with your test provider that it meets those standards.

You may not be able to travel if the test does not meet these standards. It’s your responsibility to ensure you get the right test that meets the above requirements.

Hi Jeff, I've been searching Ryanair for the promotional code you mention, for tests in the UK, could you guide me please?

Hi there, the code that I used for Ryanair was RYAND2821. When you look to finalise the purchase the page will say to click on the Amber package and this will show a total cost of £295. On the same page it will ask you for a promotional code. Enter the above code and it recalculates it to £120.

Hi

We have just returned from Malaga, we booked each a test with Eurofins for day 2 and 8 at a cost of £99 each. we also did a PCR test from the medical center at Benalmadena Marina at 99 Euros each, it literally took minutes, book in advance, they send you a travel certificate by 8am the following day.

Thanks for this. Eurofin sounds great! I believe an antigen is sufficient for entry to the UK, but if you found different please tell!

We took a PCR as we wanted to be certain to get on the Flight, but I think they accept Antigen now, check to be sure with your airline, things are changing daily.
