Hi everyone,

Myself and my husband are new to the area from Ireland. Any help or advice would be very much appreciated! We hope to work here but we know the first thing we have to do is apply for our NIE numbers. Where is the local Police Station or Town Hall and how do we get there on public transport please.

Many thanks,

Cath

Remember you will need an appointment which you can do yourself online. I would recommend using a Gestor service to organise this. If you wish I can recommend a local service which are excellent and will not rip you off with their fees. It is difficult to find your way around the Spanish system unless you have good conversational Spanish. We used this service for everything and they were excellent.

My apologies I didn’t realise where you are living. The company I could recommend is too far away. I am sure if you Google local Gestors they could assist immediately. Sorry about that.

Ah that's no problem at all! Appreciate your reply. I made my way down to the Police Station today with the helpful advice of another forum member and got familiar with the area, I got my bus tickets sorted also so I was happy. I'll make the appointment online and now I know exactly where to go. Thanks to everyone for replying to me :)

Hi,

I think there is only so much you can do in advance with the paperwork needed for your NIE. You'll need to be present in the local office on the day to actually make the application. I found that the office in Malaga was offering the quickest appointments. I came across a lady from Dublin that works here helping people like ourselves with paperwork and applications, she was a great help. https://instagram.com/decipher_spain?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Other than that every day is a learning day here, try get out and chat with people around you. Very often they have the best advice and recommendations.

Forums like this one can be a great source of information and advice too.

Best of luck and happiness with your move 😊👍
