Hi Helen,

I will be driving to casares del sol this Sunday (first time). Bit of an adventure. I will be using the channel tunnel as I have a dog travelling with me. We will be doing two stop overs to break the journey up, nearly 22 hours from calais to casares so I've been told! I will be using toll roads as this will be the fastest route. There are a few good route planners on line that help you plan the route, show where the tolls are and give an approximate cost of the journey. There are also some good You tube videos of different routes to Spain.

My UK insurance covers upto 90 days in Europe. Check with your UK insurance provider for details.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes

Julie

Hello

We fly in and so we’re faced with the prob of getting from the airport to our place to pick up the car.

So we use expat parking whereby we pay an annual fee and drop it off to them at the airport and they bring it to us when we arrive. Crucially they get the car started and cleaned for our pickup.

we bought a Spanish car from a neighbour. We insured via direct line as they speak English and got a discount because we did our house insurance too. They do negotiate so don’t accept the first price they give you.
I hope that helps

Michel

The insurance company is Linea Directa.  They are excellent and yes they speak English very well - actually they focus on English speakers.

That's brilliant Michael! Sounds more like us too. We're debating about buying car there - just a second hand cheap runaround would be fine. If you know of any sources please let us know 😊 Thanks again for great info.Helen
