Hi - so I am new to this site and wanted to ask fellow users what I should do .
Well - 1st June for three nights I have on booked a much needed short break away and every web site says when researching CDS beautiful weather and rain scarce .so I booked Cala de Mijas -  I am rather weather obsessed and have been checking a couple of sites and to my dismay and disappointment rain , cloud and storms forecast all the days I am there . I would understand it if it had been winter or March but early June ?? All the time ? AccuWeather and a couple of others all say the same . Metcheck saying sun .apparently according to BBC low pressure meant to be over Spain , France and Portugal that time and the U.K. getting ( potentially) the warm weather !! This is just my luck  I don’t want to come out and it be like this . Is this rare ? Anyone else heard or read it will be like this ? It’s going to be the half term week and the second week of June looks better lol 😂 when we all are back home !!!! I know weather can be unpredictable but being self employed I have saved so hard for this break it’s why us Brits go abroad mainly for the sun ! ! Would gladly welcome comments and whether I should change destination ? Thanks 😊

Hi Charlie,

Thanks for the weather update.

I think you need to find somewhere else to go for guaranteed nice weather........ Dubai maybe?

Here in Spain all the authorities and farmers are praying for rain.

Franco, with all his faults, did do one thing right, build dams everywhere to catch rain water.

Good luck with your holiday?

Chris

Honestly Charlie one cannot predict the weather 2 days hence here in Spain!  Rain?  I doubt it but who knows.  Climate changes are making predicting weather very difficult so I would take everything 'predicted' with a grain of sale.  However, as Chris said maybe there are other places in this world where the weather is still 100% predictable.

Otherwise you will have to go with the flow and enjoy your holiday whatever the weather brings.

Thanks guys for replying , I know it’s crazy really that I am worrying about this , first world problems and all that but when you save up hard for a little break it’s soul destroying when weather isn’t on your side . However it’s a while off yet and so far it’s now saying sunny so who knows ?!!! As for Dubai I don’t think going on a three night break would be worth the trip !!🤣 have been told Mijas and around is lovely  so am

Looking forward to coming . I believe there is a cable car nearby and caves too to visit is that right ?

Hi Charlie,

I am sorry that I do not live in Mijas.  I did go there once to buy a car.  I think alot depends on what you want to do?  I know there are cable cars in Benalmadena but not sure about Mijas.  As for caves maybe there are but I do not care for caves so have never bothered to find them.

I understand your point when you save up for something and then you have only a few days to enjoy yourself.  So maybe think about what you like to do because there really is alot to do around this area of the coast but the time can go fast if you do not have everything lined up AND importantly how you are going to get to each spot. A car would be best!

Maybe start planning your days activities so you do not have to worry so much about the weather.   Just have fun - life is short.  So make the most of every interaction / activity you have.  :)

Thank you that’s really helpful and I know I shouldn’t be worrying about the weather ! It’s what us Brits always talk about !! You have made me feel better about just enjoying the break away and am sure it will be lovely , just good to get away from the U.K. I can’t wait to tuck into tapas and buy some lovely Spanish olive oil ! Thanks guys for your replies ☺️

Now THAT is the right attitude.  Whatever the weather you can sit back, eat tapas, have a cerveza and watch the 'show' around you.  For sure it will be a different one than the one you see in the UK.  Practice your Spanish a bit and laugh at how difficult that is. Take in an event or two by checking the areas around and figuring out how to get there (is often an event all in itself - LOL).

Charlie you will have a great time just being immersed in another culture and breathing the air of another land.  If the sun is shining, that is a bonus.

Salud!

Much appreciated and very wise words ☺️ been battling the winds and rain today as I work outside and so yea it will be a very big bonus if the sun shines when I get there !!

Have a great weekend 🍹
