Winter rental advice on area

We have been living in the Middle East for 20 years and planning to visit Costa Del Sol for a couple of months in january 2020 with a view to seeing if we’d like to live 6 months a year /retire there. Which would be a good area to look for somewhere to rent short term/holiday let which has plenty of facilities and walking distance to sea? How much rent should I expect to pay fir a month for a 1 bedroom apartment. I’ve been to Fuengirola in the summer which was too busy but what’s it like in the winter? La Cala seemed a nice little town also when I visited a few years ago?
