There is an extremely good public hospital in Benalmadena. The A and E department are very good. It is situated in Avenida de Cibeles. 29630 and is about 15 minutes drive from Fuengirola. As for private ambulances I really do not know but I do wish you a speedy recovery.

Jude 1015. Thanks I will check it out.

My brother had a heart attack in August while staying in Los Boliches. The emergency number (112 I think) advised him to go to the hospital in Las Lagunas by taxi. They have an A&E there. las Lagunas is essentially part of Fuengirola if you don’t know it already.
He assumed the taxi dri...

...ver would know where the hospital was but she didn’t. It took them 10-15 minutes to find it including the driver asking her dispatch operator. Very stressful for my brother at the time.  So maybe best doing a bit of research for the location in advance. When he got to Las Lagunas hospital they examined him, paramedics were quick to get him stabilised and he was transported by ambulance to the Costa del Sol hospital in Marbella and within a couple of hours had a stent fitted by 11am on a Sunday morning. He was very pleased with the public health system but you may be best using a taxi unless you are unable to.

Hi Every one. Thanks for the responses so far. Now researching

Las Lagunas

Benelmadina

Helicopteros Saniteros.

Just to update you all on my swollen leg!! Managed to fly back to UK.

Its been horrendos. The pain has been unbelievable. (Bearing in mind I have had Kidney Stones twice this was much worse!)

Went to my community hospital. They Xrayed- No Fractures

They sent me to John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford "Plastic Surgery" Dept.because they thought it was Compartment Syndrome! (I hadnt heard of it either) apparently Compartment Syndrome solution can result in surgery and skin grafts.

They saw me straight away and thought it was a large Hematoma  inside  the muscle . By this time my leg below the knee was turning black, the pain was off the scale and the screen was shiny and tight as a drum skin!

They sent me for Ultrasound. It turns out out it was infected Cellulitus. Excess fluid deep in the tissue. (I hadnt heard of that either!)

Anyway bottom line. IV anti biotics, Strong Pai nKillers and flat on my back for 4 days leg above heart (To "drain Fluid)

Even then it might go on a while!

All this from a stumble on the promenade which didnt even break the skin.!!

At 76 I feel the wheels are falling off and I am a fully paid up member of the KOS (Knackered Old Shits) Club.

Oh one other thing. If anything similar happens to you DON'T wait..  My delaying and soldiering on made the situatioin much worse.

Regards
ian

Julie thanks

It just continues to be awful. It feels like it’s going to be a long haul. Another day of no movement, leg in the air. Not a glimmer of improvement yet.
Thanks again

Ian
