Hello lucky inhabitants of Fuengirola.

We are working towards settling there ourselves and would appreciate some help from you.

Which bank do you use? Are you happy with it? What are the different charges they take ?

Many thanks for any relevant information.

If you feel like it, we could meet for a chat at the Bee's Knees!

Better to use on-line bank, not a Spanish one charges are high. N26 is one of the most reliable and popular.

Hi, I recommend Banco Sabadell.

I've been using then for over 20 years without any problems.

Spanish banks charge and that goes against the grain, especially after using a UK bank.

But in my experience, the sooner one accepts the Spanish way, laws etc, the better life is, moving and living in this great diverse country.

My advice is get here as soon as you can and avoid the British bubble.

Good luck!

I recommended N26, who in fact are a Eurozone German bank with a Madrid office,   https://n26.com/es-es

Banking is changing to 'on-line', lower cost more efficient and you don't need to go near a bank.

However British based 'Wise', now a top choice in particular for low cost international transfers.

   https://wise.com/

175 countries. 50 currencies. One account.

Hello Chris,

many thanks for your philosophical advice! Most judicious.  However, we would appreciate it if you could give us indications of the bank charges at Banco Sabadell, or where to look them up. We'll be in Fuengirola in March, see you then? Our invite to the Bee's Knees still stands...  Zaa

"what do you do if you need cash? "

Draw from Bank machines, N26 give a number free withdrawals, you need a Spanish address.

I've used WISE for years and always found it great. Got a debit card with them and pound to euro transfers are quick and at the daily XR. I've had two Spanish bank accounts and wouldn't open another if I can help it.
