Hi we have a holiday home in Duquesa and was wondering how everyone is coping with the shutdown. Do you think the majority of restaurants on and around the port will survive this terrible virus and lockdown.

Hi, I have lived in Duquesa for around 25 years or so. I have to go into The Port ever so often to the Chemist etc. At the moment it is eerily quiet with absolutely nobody walking or driving around. All the restaurants, bars and businesses are closed. However, there are rumours that some of the very strict regulations will soon be eased, bars and restaurants, I'm afraid, are not head of the list, and I'm afraid there will be a few weeks to go before they are allowed to open. There is government help for those businesses that cannot open, but, obviously it is up to the proprietors to decide whether they will open again. However, as you are probably aware there is always new people willing to buy bars and restaurants, so I expect things to eventually get back to " normal " within the next year.

Hi thank you for replying. Our regulations in the UK are not as strict and I am beginning to feel that perhaps we have approached this the wrong way. We are hoping to get out to Duquesa again end of August/Sept but I am sure that there will be strong restrictions on flying. We have had to cancel 2 flights already and one in July coming up.  Keep safe and well

Hello Tracy. Can I ask, did you cancel your July flight? Or did they do it? I have flights booked myself but up to now my easter one is the only one cancelled but I'm not really expecting the others to go ahead but we can live in hope.

Hi we have not cancelled ourselves yet as we have had 1 flight cancelled and they are saying if you require a refund it will be dealt with after COVID ends. That's with Ryanair. We are hoping the same for July if the situation is still the same. Here in the UK rumours are that no restaurants and bars will open again until Jan 2021 and flights will be cancelled until towards the end if the year. Its looking unlikely we will even get to Spain in September. Very concerning times.

Yes I am in the exact same position. We own a place in torreblanca. We had the same message from Ryanair so I decided to accept the travel voucher for Easter but as of May we moved it hopefully to end of June and we already had August booked. I don't really want vouchers for all flights as its a lot of money to lose but from what I have heard about Ryanair it's a take it or leave it situation. I just wish our country would take this a little more serious and stop mixing with everyone. The sooner we do this then hopefully things will get back to some sort of normality. Wishing you good luck. Keeping everything crossed
