It's called a NIE and not being funny but if you can't spell Benalmadena properly I recommend using a gestor, or I always recommend these guys...I know them and no fuss and honest

As far as I know the nearest you can process your N.I.E is at the police station in either Torre del Mar or Marbella.

Torre del Mar is where I had my N.I.E processed as it was less busy.

"Numero de Identidad de Extranjero"

If you would like help with this I used Lawyers in Spain, really helpful, in fact they actually collected me from mijas and took me to the appointment.

Though, they can also do this remotely for you if you give them power of Attorney.

It only Cost £100 or so

Your first port of call is Torremolinos National Police station. You need to que up, get the form and fill it in (this is the part that the other poster suspects you may need help with) and pay the tax at the local bank around the corner. Que up again to present the documents required along with the reciept and then they will advise when you can collect it.

It can be a frustrating and challenging process (hence the suggestion of using a gestor) so you may need to work on your communication skills as the police there won´t tolerate the attitude you have recently displayed.

I got mine at the local Town Hall. No queuing and very straightforward. Took about 20 minutes and I was issued my NIE immediately! Take ID etc.
