Morning

We came back last weekend after using Firefly. Got to the car rental at 12.05 and we’re charged €45 for going into the next day.

On return we got the girl to check the car and she found a scratch. Fortunately we had dated photos to prove it wasn’t us. The next day €360 was taken from the bank. When my husband contacted them they said it was for excess mileage. Apparently we did 1700 kilometres in a week. We didn’t. We did 400 km. Again we had the paperwork given to us to prove they were wrong. Needless to say it’s in the hands of the bank again. The 3rd company that have done this.!!!

 The chap next to me on the plane has always used Malaga car.com. He travels twice a month. You book your car and there’s someone at the entrance with a shuttle bus to take you to the company as it’s outside the airport. Will give it a try next month. Wish us luck x

Hi,

normally the bus is standing and waiting you, as they know the arrival time of your flight. If the bus is not there, waiting time is max 10 minutes.

When you get out of arrival Terminal you go left around the building, and in front of you across the street there is a parking place, there you find the bus with their name on.

The transfer takes about 5-6 minutes, bus is clean, with aircon and not overfilled. Because they drive very frequently, and because the bus is not completely overfilled, they creat a flow with very little waiting time, and if you use the fast lane service it is a matter of minutes.

In the past we also tried companies inside the airport, but after spending a bit more than 2 hours waiting, and as a bonus on top the endless discussions about extra insurance etc, we learned our lesson.

Hellehollis is very tranparent with bot insurance and fule policy. Either you go for an extra insurance or deposit, it is all very clear during booking process. You get the car with a full tank and you pay a deposit for the fuel When the car is returned with 100%, 75%, 50% or 25% fuel, you only pay for missing part, and the rest is returned to you card in the moment you give back the car.

I don’t know what area you want but for Malaga I use Malaga car.com, I have used them for three years now on a very regular basis and th eh y are brilliant. I used Goldcar once never ever ever again. Hope that helps

Helle Hollis are first class have used for over 20 years, plus tried most of the others.

They are normally pretty fast and have the flight logged.

I use Wiber through Doyouspain and get my insurance through Questor. Never had a problem with hard sell for insurance with them.

Following posts on this forum and through experience having a total mistrust of the hire companies in the airport we decided to try Helle Hollis.

On returning our car we reported that the passenger door creaked ..we thought it just needed some WD40. After inspecting the car the staff showed us what was a very minor dent in the door which wasn't noted on the contract as damage. We have no knowledge of this happening but cannot guarantee that it didn't happen while the vehicle was parked up and not in our care. Whilst the damage is barely noticeable we are sure that the car hire companies in the airport would have charged us for this damage so well done Helle Hollis for taking a fair and honest view of it. We will certainly be using Helle Hollis. 

Great to find a car rental company you can put some trust in and not be stressed out when collecting and returning the car wondering how they are going to extort money out of you.

Also I had always assumed that using an off site rental company would be a hassle but the efficient check in procedure made up for having to use a transfer bus. 

Also if you register as a holiday home owner you get an extra 15% discount for you and your guest and get other benefits like fast track check in and free extra driver. 

So ditch the big on site rental companies and give Helle Hollis a try.

Glad worked out for you, very good company, I have tried many over the last 20 odd years, they are first class. Also best to go direct to hire firm, rather than on line brokers, some hire companies have the trick where they charge for a full tank of fuel and people must return empty as no refund.
