The standard advice is to allow 15% for fees on top of purchase price. The fee charged by my solicitor for the work was 1% of purchase price but there are extras such as transfer of utilities and wills which may not be applicable to you. He also translated documents and presented the documents which I could not have done .  I think the easiest thing is to get some quotes. Alex

Thanks Alex. I'm actually moving from Mallorca where the fee structures differ.

EG the estate agents here charge between 5-6% whereas it appears the Andalus agents charge less.

The lawyers here charge 1% too and I wondered if the southern lawyers were similarly more competitive.

So it would appear 1% is pretty standard -- which is what I thought.
