2nd hand car

Help and advice. I brought a 2nd hand car about 2weeks ago,on the second day the fan belt snapped which the vendor replaced, on the next trip the car broke down again this time the engine blew a gasket needs replacing now I can't contact vendor.Is there anyone that could advise as to where I stand legally.

Alan, you don’t say if you bought the vehicle from a local business or a private vendor. Local business will normally offer some kind of warranty, but if it was a private sale then I’m guessing it’s the same as in U.K., sold as seen.

Yes sorry it was from a dealer but never offered a warranty.

My understanding is that dealers are required to provide a warranty of at least one year. Unsure what the warranty should include

Not much help if you cannot trace the vendor, but if you are able to contact him you ought to have a discussion with him

Go to the business and ask for the Libro de reclamaciones - the complaints book. They have to let you fill in a form which the police will follow up on. If they won't give you the book you can go to the police.
