Hello, looking at Torre del Mar for a holiday home, does the area close down for Winter months, compared to Marbella side. Any comments about buying in the area. thank you

Our holiday home is not far from Torre, no the area does not ‘close down’ in winter, fewer restaurants open, but still plenty that are & other amenities available. We chose the east side of Malaga, as we find it to be less built up, less commercialised & fewer non-Spanish in the area. We find the Spanish to be friendly towards us (I have heard there can be anti English feeling on the west side where there are a lot of ex-pats although we have no experience of that) You’ll get more for your money when buying property on the east side.

It doesn’t close at all hence it’s one of the most popular places to live all year round.

Hello, thank you for your thoughts, we did like Torre but after our area it seemed so tranquil, we do want to come out in winters when we retire so hence the question of it being closed.

Thank you for your reply, so worth a look, we ddi look at a new development, we would like sea views. We did not see many resturants obviously not in the right area of Torre. Where is the best areas to buy.

Sorry our property very different to what you are looking for, we have a village house about 3 miles from the sea & not a new build. I’d suggest you spend time in the area to get a feel for what is available within budget & where you want to be. Restaurants - suggest you do a search on google maps & you’ll see many

|We only looked at new build as we didnt want to do any work on the property and to be able to walk to shop and resturants, is there much going on where you are.

Algarrobo, a mainly Spanish small town, there are a couple of restaurants we go to, plus some bars. There are some shops / small supermarkets but we don't use them, tend to go to Lidl (Algarrobo Costa) where there are a number of restaurants, or the El Ingenio shopping centre off the motorway between Velez & Torre  I suspect somewhere on the coast in / near Torre would suit you, but you really need to spend time in the area to decide
