Hello all, I'm brand new here, but quite old elsewhere!

For a few years my internet provider was Olivenet, Russian owned and based in San Pedro. As I spend around 5 months in Spain, I would pay Oli8venet in advance for the months I was in Spain. When not in Spain, I would pay nothing. Earlier this, Olivenet was taking over by a Spanish run company called OLIN, although nobody informed us that this had happened!

I'm Welsh and live in Germany.I left Spain at the end of April this year.Since then, Olin, which has NO bank details from us, have been sending me a monthly bill. I explaind the arrangement I had with Olivenet, but they are still demanding this money and are now threatening to sue me! I'm not concerned about this, but would like to know if anyone else out there had a similär problem with OLIN!

Can anyone recommend a different Internet provider from that area? Much appreciated if you can!

Hi,

I've been a customer of OliveNet for a long time and am now with Olin.

The service is very good, I can contact them anytime, and can still deactivate my broadband when I want to.

I am pleased with the new Spanish owners.

Hi,

Thank you for responding to my question. I'm pleased that you have no problems with Olin, but do you live there permanently? So long as we stayed there, and payed in advance, all was okay.but as I said before, Olivenet never charged during the time that we were'nt there! We had no standing order!

I pay by direct debit.

Give them notice by email when you want to cancel or connect the service.

They speak our language and are easy to contact

Thats worth paying the extra for?

I’m with Olin and tried to contact them recently but could not find any phone number that worked. Do you have their contact number and email address for future reference?

Hi Kim,

This is the details I have for Olin.

They have a shop in Marbella and La Campaña where you can get help.

I don't know if they have one in Estepona?

I suggest Tiekom who have a selection of plans which might suit you. I am a satisfied user

I don't live in Spain.

Been with Olivenet now Olin for years.

When I am not going to be in Spain go online and enter date to suspend the service and the date to turn it back on.

No charges when service is suspended.

Never paid for the period I am going to be in Spain in advance.

If you want to change from Olin I have heard that Avatel is good, you need to check if you can suspend the service/payment when you are not in Spain.

I would be worried about Olin chasing you for what they claim is a debt. Until resolved the amount they want you to pay will keep on increasing and eventually they will set the debt collectors on you. I had this issue with Vodafone Spain.

Just remember you have no contract with OLIN. It’s all down to contract law . Contracts are not transferable in spite of what OLIN May think. You owe OLIN nothing. Email and point that out to them. If you then wish to contract do so. Make sure the terms offered are acceptable to you.
