Visting and living in a place can be totally different so my advice would be to research ,possibly rent or visit for 2 weeks and look at areas ,potential properties etc
Think about all the times of the year particularly when looking inland -hotter summers ,cooler winters
If you buy remote then think later on when maybe you can't drive -also think of crime ie burglary
Research practical ie is there fibre internet or are you committed to wi-fi internet ?
VERY IMPORTANT
if you are retiring get advice BEFORE you become resident as UK 25% tax free lump sums from private pensions are taxable here
Complete a tax return in your FIRST year as a resident even if you fall below the taxable income -thus you are registered with Hacienda (HMRC equivalent. )and need the certificate to send to HMRC
ISAs in UK -get advice before you leave particular if you have child /junior isa for relatives
Get pension advice ie state pension get the pension estimate ie years paid in etc as this helps when your pension date arrives
international sipps maybe worth exploring -is your current uk tax adviser allowed to give you advice post Brexit
MY GOLDEN RULE -if you can reduce your debts ie mortgages, etc then that means your outgoings are lower -if you pump money into pensions they will be taxed
Most of all plan and enjoy your retirement -try to learn spanish even a few words as its very appreciated by the locals
below an excellent article and mapping Spain is brilliant for personal experiences throughout spain
