Hi, no we have to sell our house here before we can move. I hope you don,t mind me asking a question or 2.  Was there any reason you didn,t move to one of the park homes?  We liked Mollina but didn,t want the problems with owning property, at least on the park everything is taken care o...

...f for you.  When we were in Mollina last year we went into what we thought was an Irish bar. It was on the main street and we really liked it, maybe you know what I mean. Is there a big British community in Mollina?

I,ll stop now before I bore you to death.

Hi Diane, we were just worried that there might be a of a bit clique thing going on in the parks and living so close to each other, if your face doesn’t fit.......  But that’s just a personal thing. My hubby also didn’t like the idea of having to pay so much ground rent after buying your own van/park home. It doesn’t cost much more to rent a property in the village. It depends on what you are looking for. There are aspects of living on a park that I do find appealing, then other things that I don’t like. Only you will know what’s important to you. We do have friends on most of the parks, but do find getting in to visit them a problem if the gates are closed. You have to get them to come all the way down to the gate, which can be quite a distance for them, to let you in. Or do as we sometimes do, sit outside the gate, wait for a resident to come along and drive in after them quickly. Feels a bit like breaking in 😂 and can be just as bad getting out again!

We have only been in Pepe Johns once, for someone’s party, but we are not big drinkers or karaoke fans, so it’s not really our thing. God, we sound like right boring old farts 😂. Again, if you enjoyed it, then they are a lovely crowd who go there. I know some of them, some are my neighbours.

Personally, I would always advise anyone moving to Spain permanently to rent first, as if you hate the house, area, whatever, it will cost you a lot to change it. I have known a few folk who this has happened to.

Good luck whatever you choose to do xx

Hi Lorraine,

I get what you mean about there being "cliques" in the parks. We were advised against moving to Saydo Park as that's what happens there. My I told my husband what your husband said about the ground rent but his reasoning is he has no hassles regarding anything going wrong. If it does you just report it to the office and someone comes to fix it. We also looked at La Posada but found that way to big. We are also quite private people, we do like to make friends but are a bit picky, again that makes us sound like snobs!  We are not big drinkers either.

What do you do to socialise?  Also another question (if you don,t mind) what is the pharmacist like in Mollina? We have a great one here, they all speak English and are so helpful. Everytime I walk in one or two of them will say "Bom dia Diane" (good morning). Also does the Dr. speak English? Don,t know what age you are but we are in our 70,s, I like to think a very young 75!! Are you in a house or apartment?

I think I,ve burdend you enough with my ramblings.  Hope to hear from you again,

DIANE
