We have a house in spain since 2014 and needed a spanish account for bills etc. we live in Norway but visit during Winter and rent out in summer when we stay in Norway ourselves. Our lawyer in spain opened an account in Santander, but it has been so many  hickups late two years, so we moved to sabadell. Troubble with Santander is you cannoyt get online banking unless you have a spanish phone. And all communication is only in spanish except for log in. All info answeres Email etc is in spanish…They never send sms to Norwegian phone to tell They close the account if you do not present taxdeclaration… the just block you and say They have sent Email, in spanish.. when I told them by visiting and presenning documents  They still said it was difficult. Asked if I could speak spanish since we was in spain… whwen gave up after several meeting phone to main office etc I closed the account . Than I had to visit four times , and last time They said that They could not transfer to my new account in Sabadell, They had to give me cash!! I said are you serious, banking in 2023 is by giving aan envelope of money in cash…??? Yes, and out I kI went with several hundred euros in cash and into Sabadell. They said, what? Never heard that before. So if you need a spanish account, stay away from Santander is my advice.
