If you live in Spain and are a pensioner, the proper S1 form is obtained from the Overseas Healthcare Team office of the Department of Work and Pensions. The point is that it is sent to you with the relevant information on the form completed by the DWP. What is the website to which you refer? If the form is not genuine and properly completed then the Spanish Social Security office will not accept it.

Hi

I got it from the proper UK source and wondered if it is enough to get residencies?

By itself it is insufficient to obtain residencia. Apart from anything else you will need an NIE number. There is plenty of information about requirements for residency available on the web. I suggest you contact the British Consulate:

I think it is. The requirement is to have either private health insurance which gives complete coverage the same as under the Spanish national health system (ie no co-payments) or proof of entitlement to membership of the Spanish national health system under the reciprocal payment arrangement with the UK, and the S1 form should do the latter.

Phil you will also need a certificado de saldo from your bank. Having just been through this we ended up having to get private health care as we have had ongoing issues with the SI system, due in part to the uncertainty of Brexit.

With all the right bits of paper the process was in the end painless and we are now proud owners of full residencia, well at least until October 30th.

There are companies that will cover pre-existing conditions with a premium of course. May we worth trying ASSSA, their sales team are really helpful.

If you manage to get the SI form to work now please let me know, my husbands cover was suddenly stopped in Spain due to very complicated rules of pensions from overseas.

If you need help with the Spanish paper work the Expat Advisory service in Torrox del Mar is brilliant.

Hi all, thank you for letting me join your forum! This is my first post, and hopefully it isn't a dumb question. I am just looking into retiring to Spain with my partner, who is of retirement age. Would his S1 document cover me as well? We're civil partners, and I am under state pension age but retired. Thanks in advance.
