Hi

I completed the non resident tax form 210 for the 2020 tax year and paid in October last year before the deadline. I had the money bounced back to me by the tax office in January and I have now resubmitted it. The return of the funds just stated that the beneficiary wasn't expecting the money (!!???) although I am happy I submitted the correct info.  I have previously submitted for the 2019 year in 2020 without any bounce back of funds so I presume everything worked for that year.

My question is, is there a way of confirming with the tax authorities that the payment has been received correctly, i.e. I won't get the money back in a month or two as last time. Perhaps sending a tracked letter asking for a response or is that too naive? I tried the Citizens Advice in Spain but their help was very basic and didn't help me progress the issue.

I have tried to book an appointment to visit the tax office in Malaga in May when I am next over but no dates are available.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

I received a receipt for NR tax paid, the day after I paid it, i.e.  the confirmation you seek.

If you didn't receive such a receipt, I'd be checking the references you submitted your payment under

Hi Andrew

Just a thought, did you use a digital certificate to enter the information, was the the receipt by email and have you always received it that way?

Many Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike, I actually used a tax payment service S T F

I think the first time I had an issue submitting the forms, & they made it easy, although they charge for the service. The Spanish tax receipt was a pdf via email

I pay IBI & vehicle tax directly, so maybe I'll try paying NRT direct next time
