Hello, we are coming to Malaga shortly and want to have a look at towns such as Fuengirola, Benalmaden, Torremolinos etc as we are thinking of buying property at some point.    Does anyone know if it is possible to buy a return train ticket to Fuengirola from Malaga, but get off the train at Torremolinos, stay there for a while, get back on the train and continue down to Fuengirola or would we need to buy different tickets for each part of the journey?

Thank,

Jacqui

Hi there,

No, there isn't a 'roaming' ticket, you will have to purchase for each stage of the journey. But, they're relatively cheap. You can get discounts on journeys, see the link
Cercanías de Málaga ( All Discounts ) | Renfe

If you qualify for a tajeta dorada you get them at any ticket office, you don't need to be resident but you do need to show proof of age - passport is fine. They last a year and can be used on intercity trains throughout Spain - excellent value and good savings if you want to explore places like Cordoba or Seville.

Hi Jaqui you can buy a ten journey ticket for about 18 euros then you can use as and when on the entire C1/C2 line which runs right from Fuengirola on the coast up to Alora inland, there is many stops on the route including the Airport, shopping Malls, along with all the Resorts etc, kind regards Richard

Hi Richard, thank you for the information.   Jacqui

Hi Jaqui, you're welcome, we bought a Villa inbetween Pizarra and Estacion de Cartama, the trains are fantastic, our Villa is only one mile from Aljaima Estacion, we can be at the airport in half an hour, good luck with the house hunting, kind regards Richard

Only piece of advice I would give, is do not live in the city, it is a nightmare. Mental in summer, nearly deserted in winter. Transport here is much cheaper than the UK

You will not find a quiet coastal town unfortunately, coast is where the tourists are. We are 25 minutes inland and it is brilliant, authentic Spanish living and NO tourists
