Hi Dave

We have literally just bought a property in Manilva and used Marbella Dream Living.  They were recommended to us.  Clive the owner has been in business over in Costa Del Sol for 30 plus years.  I dealt with an amazing lady called Shanin.  She was great. Originally from the UK ...

...she has lived there for about 18 years and was so helpful.  Even responsed to my e-mails at 9pm in the evenings. We gave her our particular brief and she came back with some really good suggestions all within our budget. Her e-mail is shanin@marbelladreamliving.com

Was shown around the properties by a great guy called Jamie who even took us to furniture stores to give us an idea of what is available and prices.

Am sure you have realised how frustrating it is to buy in Spain as all the agents pretty much have access to all the properties and so leave properties that have sold on the website to get your details.  So many times we saw "our perfect property" only to realise it had been sold months earlier.  You have to be pro-active and trawl through Rightmove, I sent Shanin property links from website to give her an idea of what I was looking for and to see if things were still available.

Good luck

Sandra

Most of the agents on the coast belong to this agency https://www.resales-online.com/en/  they claim 2,898 real estate agents using our platform. (So most of the agents are not really the actual selling agent) It can be an ordeal finding the correct property, unlike UK with Rightmove UK where you can see the location, here you can waste time going to see a property and the second you get there know it's not what you want. The pure oversupply makes makes property hard to value & most overpriced, people also should note you need to add about 10% for extra costs and taxes to the price.

Thanks for this Sandra, I’ve actually just had an offer accepted on a really nice apartment and paid a 6k deposit this morning so things are moving slowly and hoping to complete just before Xmas.

Could you recommend any furniture outlets please as the owners are leaving it unfurnished?

I’ve looked at getting a furniture package but am worried about the quality and I think I could save a fortune and get it ourselves to exactly our spec.

thank you.

Dave.

It's hard to beat Ikea here, you can also get people to assemble.

Their site is also in English. https://www.ikea.com/es/en/

Any recommendations for good estate agents in the costa del sol please.

Been let down by affinity and starting to doubt the Spanish estate agent so need to find someone who will help us find our perfect pad in the sun.

We used Viva Homes who were fantastic. Our agent was Kim Burt who has lived in Spain for 30 years.

Hi Dave

That is great news about having an offer accepted.  Congratulations.  Well in regards to furniture, our apartmnet won't be ready until June 2022 so we are just in the process of trying to source furniture ourselves.  I must say that I am really shocked at the prices of things in Spain.  We too thought of the furniture packages but like you not really sure of the quality & to be honest didn't want my home to look hundreds  of others with the "package" furniture. It doesn't help that none of the on line suppliers ever put prices on so you pick out a few peices to get a handle on prices, e-mail them and reel back in shock at the prices.  We visited Muebles Gavira in Casares which has a good selection and have been in contact with a very helpful lady called Leysa but they are still not overly cheap but seem to be the most reasonable. What has shocked me most is the cost of the outdoor furniture, been quoted 4,000 - 5,000 euros for something that looked average on screen.  Our terrace is not overly big!! so we actually went to Ikea in the UK yesterday & saw quite a few things we liked.  Will look on line in Malaga store to see if available & prices.  Depends on your budget I suppose and what sort of look you are going for.  It has been suggested to buy stuff here and ship it out but with Brexit it isn't as easy as it once was to do this.

Sorry I can't be of more help, maybe other people might have some suggestions.  If you find a store that does really good stuff at a reasonable price please let me know.

Good luck

Hi there. I’ve decided to buy in the U.K. and ship it out. Have been in contact with several companies and am aware of all the new customs charges etc. What I find frustrating in Spain is you can’t really shop or browse online and see prices like you can in the U.K.! But I know from a friend who has bought out there prices are astronomical eg I paid £1200 for a amazing l shaped garden furniture set from Atrophy which I know for sure would have cost €4-5k. Also there’s so much to shop around for eg dunelm, John Lewis, made, way fair etc so you can plan and budget. I’ve emptied my garage and am storing everything in there!

Hi

Can you let me know which shipping companies you spoke to as this might be another option for me.

Thanks
