Hi everyone - enjoying the lovely weather here in Competa. I am picking up a friend from Malaga airport tomorrow morning and have not parked at the Airport before. I would be very grateful for your advice on the best place to park short stay for collecting a friend. When my wife and I arrived we exited the sliding doors out to the crossing where the transfer car hire vehicles are. I noticed parking pay machine's. Can I assume you can park in the carpark to the right outside of the exit doors.? Thank you in advance for any advice anyone can offer. Have a fabulous weekend.
Hi, have only just seen your post. On driving into the airport, as you approach keep to the right ( think it’s signed VIP parking. This will take you to the short stay car park which is behind the tobacconist. Your friends can meet you there.

Thank you for your reply. I did manage to go onto streetmap and googled the P1/P2 parking. Following the roundabout and keeping right I did end up in the parking on departures level - got a bit confused as to finding the Arrivals but was ok in the end - going into the terminal and down the escalator to the lower level. I wondered if you can park in the parking area outside arrivals for a pick up as there's 3 pay machine's but wasn't sure if the parking there is only for taxis? Will be doing a drop off in a few days so at least I can just go in - drop off and exit within 15 minutes without having to get out of the car. I think. ?

For future ref the car park near arrivals is called Preferente. It's more conveinient but quite expensive, expect to pay 3 to 4 euros for abou 30 mins. To access it keep to the left and go down the slip road where the sign is for Preferente Parking.

Hi Elle. The lane said express/VIP and filtered into one lane entrance into departure level. I wonder once in the carpark there's a lower level VIP section.?

Will do - I am dropping off at the airport but will endeavour to follow the preferente route if I can. Will follow-up on my findings.

Just to be clear, Preferente is better for arrivals, but if you are dropping someone off for departures it's better to use the Express car park on departures level.
