Hi I have just joined the site

I would like to know if you need permission  to replace windows put patio doors in

And extend a house

Who knows the rules an architect or a builder ?

Thank you

Yes you’ll need permission

We had a second bathroom installed, our builder filled the application form in, then the town hall sent an inspector round to see where the work was to be done & approved it.

As I recall, the builder had to provide an itemised & costed list of materials on the application form

Hi Andrew

Do you mean you had an extension built or you refurbished an old bathroom?

Do builders know exactly what can be done?

Do the same rules apply in all districts

Thank you for your help

We had a bathroom fitted in an existing non-bathroom room.

I’d expect a good builder to know what’s required in your  local area. I can’t comment what’s required in your area, but would be amazed if you could build an extension without gaining permission.

we were told in our area, permission is needed for quite small jobs, such as replacing internal doors.

I suggest your next step, would be to speak a builder & chat through what you want doing
