Best way would be to visit;

For example, Manilva town is a few kms uphill from the coast - lots of facilities and Spanish in feel.

At the coast there is Puerto de la Duquesa, small and scenic, lots of bars and restaurants, catering for an English ex-pat crowd. Also, some golf-type urbanisations. Right next door is San Luis de Sabinillas, some smart apartment blocks, more everyday Spanish.

I would not recommend committing to buy until you have spent some time here and found your favourite location.

Hello all, is it possible to get a bus from Gibraltar Airport to Manilva?

Hi just returned from Duquesa where we have an apartment between Duquesa and Manilva Town up the hill. We love it because if you stay around Duquesa you have the option of the port very touristy or Sabillinas very Spanish. We go out there 6 times a year and it's lovely jumping on a 0lane with just a handbag. You make it what you want, both sides are very friendly it's lovely there. Good luck.

Hi, sounds like its easy getting there. Where do you fly to and how do you get from the airport to your holiday home. 🤗

Hi we fly to Malaga and use rhe same car hire fernando +34 608 84 65 64 he is brilliant. Delivers to Malaga airport and you return to the same destination with the same amount if petrol. Opt for full insurance it's not much more and covers you for everything. Brilliant service. Yakes about 50mins from Malaga to Duquesa.

Hi Patsy,

We came to our apartment as a winter rental in 2015 and ended up buying it. We live in San Luis de Sabinillas.

We now live here full time.

We like our spot because we can walk everywhere if necessary. Just 5 minutes to Mercadona and restaurants, 10 minutes to the beach or port.

As suggested I would rent first before deciding where you want to be.

Gibraltar Airport is 30 minutes and Malaga about 60 minutes. Gibraltar is great in the summer, but you can end up being diverted to Malaga if winter winds hit hard.

Bus to Gibraltar takes about an hour and costs €4

Lots of social life here and nice mix of English, Spanish and Europeans.

Thank you so much, lots of good information here. I am planning to  visit in a couple of weeks. Wish me luck in finding my retirement home. 🙏🤗
