Hi, not sure if this is the right forum but can anyone tell me how I apply for my fathers cause of death?

He died last August and was taken to the forensic institute in Malaga for autopsy. I have emailed them but not getting a reply.

I was told I had to wait 6 months then apply but I don't know how to do it or where to apply.

I'm in the UK but will be coming to Spain next month so can appear in person if it's at a court should I need to.

Any help and advice will be greatly appreciate.

Many thanks,

Louise

Hi Louise,

Sorry to hear your father has passed away.

I use Citizen Advice here in Spain for lots of information.

Google CAB Spain

Regards,

Chris

Hi Louise

Found this on an old forum for you

"When a British national dies in Spain, the local tanatorio deals with all the arrangements, and eventually a death certificate is also sent to the UK. There is a central coroners office in the UK who can supply duplicates if the original has been lost, but I don't have the details to hand.

The death certificate does show the cause of death as far as I know.

I'm surprised the consulate in Alicante wasn't helpful, they usually are. Perhaps you should try the British embassy in Madrid, or the Spanish embassy in London."

Don't be afraid to telephone the local tanatorio in Spain who dealt with the funeral, most of them have helpful English speakers. The one in Torrevieja has Yolanda, who is very helpful, just ask the switchboard for 'Ingles, por favor.'

"

Good Luck

Nigel

Hi, unfortunately the death certificate only provides a date of death and not a cause.

As it was unexpected and he was at home there was an autopsy so someone knows, it's just finding out who and where I get that information.

I'll try the funeral director next to see if they can help.

Thanks for the information.

Kind regards,

Louise

Don't imagine for one minute that cab spain is anything to do with CAB uk.

It is run by moira, a dutch business woman. It is a money making business, it is not here for the people.
