Hi,  We have sold up entirely in the UK and are effectively homeless from 26th May - We have our one and only worldwide property in Alhaurin el Grande and want to drive to our permanent home with our 2 dogs in July.

Does anyone know if this is possible and if so, is there any special paperwork we need - We will have our passports, the dogs passports and our Spanish NIEs but don’t know if we need anything else ?

Looking forward so much to joining the Alhaurin community - and we promise faithfully to do 14 days quarantine when we arrive - we will not bring Covid-19 with us.

I sympathise with your plight. My daughter planned a year working around the world before going back to live in Paris, and found herself rather scuppered, in LA, where she spent 6 weeks in lockdown before managing to get to the UK. She's now in quarantine in the only bedroom of her sister's flat in Brighton, and is effectively homeless unless she is allowed to come here to Spain and hole up with me. It's all incredibly difficult for so many people.
The truth is, there's no answer to your question. By July, if all goes well in the intervening weeks, it should be OK for you to do the journey but, so much depends on what happens as lockdown restrictions are gradually relaxed. Media outlets like El Pais (there's an English version) are good at neutral updating, as is the Citizen's Advice Bureau in Spain so, all I can suggest is keeping an eye on those. The British Embassy in Madrid, or Malaga, are also helpful but, can take a few days to respond to enquiries. It would seem there's a chance Spain will open up according to region, and northern regions have been harder hit than southern - whether this will affect your right to drive from top to bottom remains to be seen.
I hope you get answers soon, and that you can get on your way down to lovely Andalucia!

Thank you so much for your incredibly helpful and empathetic response.

Fingers crossed we will get there in July or August at the latest - we are in real trouble if it takes any longer than that we really are.

People travelling to Spain from England are not allowed at least until September however this could change so please do your research before you commit to anything during this pandemic.

Oh wow that’s so awful - what news - homeless for months - really !  It’s not travel for travel sake - it’s a human right to be allowed to be at your only worldwide home - that’s terrible !

I thought about sending you a private message but, I'd like my comment to be public.

There's nothing anywhere to say that people cannot travel from the UK to Spain until September - that's rumour without substance. The situation is changing weekly - if not daily. It's very hard for those of us without any of the worries associated with moving or being homeless at the moment. It's multiplied hundreds of times for people with life-changing circumstances so, anyone who wishes to reply to queries really should think twice before posting inaccurate information. Please go to reliable sources, such as CAB Spain, .gov.uk (https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain), a reputable newspaper, or the British Embassy for information regarding movement during lockdown.

This was in the Spanish news online. The  decision was due to the UK government not putting lockdown in place until much later

Thank you so much - that is very reassuring.

We have a whole life’s worth of saving tied up in our move.

We are distressed beyond measure - we have not left the house for 7 weeks to ensure we will not carry the virus with us from the UK.

We are prepared and happy to quarantine for 14 days or longer on arrival.

We have asked our solicitor who had full power of attorney to see if anything can be done.

tThis has been a nightmare for us and it continued,

Julie Kenna

That's just not true. Never seen September quoted anywhere. It's anyone's guess at the moment

Oh really believe what you want and I really wouldn't being making such a quote if I hadn't read this in the news.
