Hi Jack

There is a train every hour through the tunnel and there are no problems getting on.

We used the Campanile hotel in Saint Jean de Luz just over the border in France and the Ibis Budget in Abbeville.  Both were practically empty and both were dog friendly, we had our two with us.  You will probably need to ring them direct to check that they are still open.

As far as facilities, there are none. Nothing at all in the hotels but supermarkets are still open and some shops at the motorway services.  Nothing open at the Tunnel.  On the plus side, the roads are quite empty and travelling is easy and fast.  Don't forget to download your form for crossing the border into France from our Government website.

Good luck!!

Hi thank you so much for the info that's a great help.Having some where to freshen up and is dog friendly is great .

Regards Jack and please stay safe .

Hi we both sat in the front as the car was full and had the dogs in the back, driving through Spain we didn’t see any police stopping anyone, same with France

We just drove to Alicante today. My passenger sat on the opposite side rear. We were questioned at a petrol station past Granada by 2 Guardia Civil. My marginal Spanish was good enough to explain we were returning to our home country. I guess they saw the Austrian plates and didn’t check passports or anything. After a friendly bien  Vieja we were on our way. If anyone is heading up the east cost to France I know a place that will put you up. A small resort just off the A7 by Alicante with about 5 cottages.  Plent of Hotels available on Expedia just across the border in France. Airbnb also avalaible (and in Switzerland also)
