Hi all looking for some advice on the TIE number, I am arriving in Spain on the 2nd September on a NLV and been told I have to get my TIE number within one month of arrival, I have also been told that to get a TIE number I have got to have a 12 month rental contract, can anyone please tell me if this is correct. Thanks in advance. Graham.

You will need good advice plus an agent based in Spain to deal with your TIE. Note a NLV and getting a TIE means you become a resident of Spain for Tax, so you need to look at that in detail, also you will need good health insurance. If you are British 'meaning you are no longer an EU citizen', there is no deal to swap your drivers license, 'residents need a Spanish one' and now means taking a new driving test. You need a good agent here to run you through all this stuff who speaks English. The firm one who does all this. 'Make sure you get all the facts correct before you move'. (It can be a bag of worms) Don't forget you must get an NIE number.

For clarity - a NIE number is a similar thing to a British NI number, needed for purchasing a property, opening a bank account etc. A TIE is your permit of residence in Spain (in the form of a plastic card).
