Hi Gary
You still need Private Health |nsurance (or UK S1 if you are a pensioner) and the required Income of approximately E27,000.00 per annum in a Spanish Bank Account. This amount must show in your Bank Account in advance of you applying for your Residency Card (T.I.E). See my links in my previous posts for more info which is still relative. Showing the Spanish Authorities the required funding to support yourself and not being a burden on the state even if you are looking for a job is a real hindrance in taking this huge link in moving to Spain.
Hope this helps

Nigel,
Your a real nice patient guy. I cannot believe that every week this Forum gets the same old questions on this situation which has been in the cards for over 4 years. Some people do seem to believe if they ask the question differently there will be a different answer.
Nope!!. The answer is that you need to show the amount stated in your bank account each year and you need private health insurance. That would be "Full Stop Period" for anyone who remembers the old days of shorthand.
Questions asked before the end of 2020 I did answer that the situation would be the same as if you were Canadian, Australian or American. But again, people just didn't want to believe it was going to be true.

I cannot comment on the income per month or annum needed, but I have been granted residencia based upon a number of things, I believe. I own my house outright. I have upgraded it to a very modern property, using Spanish builders of repute and did everything through my abogados, so the cost is available to the authorities. I have my pensions, both private and state, but they are not anywhere near £2,000 per month. I do have savings and they were taken into account as I had to prove this to the authorities, so I do not understand the figures being quoted here. £2,000 per month equates to £24,000 net income per annum, which would be after tax and National Insurance deductions, currently at 32% of income after tax relief on the 1st £12,570 per annum, meaning you would need a gross income of around £31,000 per annum. How many people have that sort of income here, not many? The comments here seem to be based upon no actual evidence, just speculation and they are making people nervous. Please use factual evidence or stop posting baseless comments.

Hi Kevin
Did you became a Resident before or after Brexit. That is a very big difference. Well huge actually. I did recently hear an actual person was rejected for not demonstrating enough funds. I do not know the specifics but it was recent, so after Brexit.
The details posted here are also posted in official locations so the figures being used are for "after Brexit" and are shockingly high and I agree not many have that sort of income but I also think the situation is still grey. I believe, but its just my perception of reading and reading these details, that if you have 30k euro in the bank at all times then that is the number they are seeking or can be a monthly income but one way or the other it must be in that region!
I do wish this could be made black and white but it seems that is not going to happen anytime soon as I believe, like you stated in your situation, there are variables that will be taken into account, such as owning your own home.
Best wishes, Kerri

Nigel,
I am reading what people have written and it is tantamount to scaremongering. If you want to run an advisory business, set it up and create a website, do not criticise people for posting comments. Everything I wrote is correct, as is my spelling and grammar.

Hi Kerri,
I applied and gained my residencia after Brexit, so I cannot understand why some people have such problems. I can still work if I need to, but I choose not to. I do have some savings and I do use an Abogado in Malaga who handles everything for me, so I never have any problems with living here.
I agree, the whole process needs to be more transparent and easier, but the fact is, it is not and the government seem happy to keep people in limbo.

Heh Kevin,
I agree totally with your assessment of the situation!
In regard to residency I am sorry that I was not clear. When I mentioned about gaining residency I meant after the deadline (not Brexit per se) - December 31 2020.
I think the real problem is for those trying to begin the residency process after January 1 2021. Things really changed at that point and the requirements for the 30k in the bank was initiated.
Hopefully the people who really want to move to Spain can make it happen. Best of luck to everyone trying.
Kerri
