We are hopefully moving to the Marella area this winter. I would like some opinions on which Golf courses represent the best value. Is the cost of Membership far in excess of a decent golf course in the Uk?  ie around £1500 annually ?    My handicap is 12 and I'm  64.  A decent course with a good social side would be ideal. Any comments would be very helpful. Thanks, Tom.

Hi Tom

Exactly where you are moving to would be helpful as there are so many courses and it's a fairly big coast!

Cheers

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your comments. Presently looking at Benahavis, and areas around Coin/Mijas.  We hope to be coming out in October, to actually visit as we have only looked on the net so far. Which club do you belong to, and what areas would you recommend to live. We have a budget of max 350,000 Euros . Want to be close to village town for restaurants and amenities and within 10k of a decent Golf course. Sorry to expand your role to estate agent as well as golf aficionado Mike, but any impartial advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Tom

I am also moving to Marbella in October this year - El Rosario area.  Courses closest to me are Marbella Country & Golf, Rio Real, Santa Clara and Cabopino.

It's crazy as close to me is 5-10 minutes and there are about 10 others I could join if prepared to drive for 20-30 minutes - such is the choice.

All research so far is pointing me towards Rio Real although I am told Marbella Country & Golf has a very good social group. The problem is the front 9 is short and tight according to comments on various websites.

I plan to play them all through to December and make a decision after having experienced them.
