Hi there. I am considering to set-up as a VTC-Taxi-Transfers business. Just a single vehicle which I would drive myself, or employ somebody during times when I am out of the country.

Does anybody have any experience/knowledge of the process? Or a link to a website that could explain the procedure?

Thank you

Colin

Hi Colin,

I don't have any information on this apart from what I know of someone else's experience.

I know a guy who tried to do the same thing a few years ago but, for various reasons, he ended up forgetting about it.

He used to do transfers for groups of golfers to and from the airport, but he started getting so much grief from Spanish taxi drivers and the police (often quite aggressively), he looked into getting a licence so he could do it 'legally'.

He took some advice from a solicitor, who told him that a licence would cost in the region of 100,000. He didn't have that kind of money to spend so, eventually, he ended up going back to the UK

Not trying to put a downer on your plans - maybe things have changed now - but sharing the info in case it's of use.

Good luck.

Hi Sherrie.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post. My intention was to go about this by buying a VTC Licence which is a means of, legally, undertaking advance bookings/hire. I see licences advertised for the Malaga region ranging from €30.000 to €60.000+ (these prices typically exclude the vehicle). Hopefully somebody who has experience with this business will see/reply to my post.

Thanks again.

Colin
